NIPIGON — For the second time in five months, police have executed a search warrant at a residence in Nipigon as part of a drug-trafficking investigation.
OPP arrested six individuals at a home on Harkness Street on Tuesday.
Two of the accused were found to be in breach of a release order and an undertaking related to the same offence – possession for the purpose of trafficking.
One of the accused was found to be the subject of an arrest warrant from another police service, while another had been reported missing by another police service.
The individuals arrested were charged with multiple drug-related offences including possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
Two of them were also charged with possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime, and one of these individuals was further charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused include four residents of Nipigon, a resident of Gorham Township and a resident of Ignace.
Five of the accused were remanded into custody after a court appearance Wednesday, while the sixth was released pending a court appearance next month.
