NIPIGON — Three people are facing charges after a series of thefts that happened in the Nipigon area in August.
Provincial police announced the charges on Wednesday, but did not provide any further details about the nature of the incidents.
A 30-year-old from Nipigon is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and five counts of failure to comply with a release order, along with single counts of theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
A 26-year-old from Iroquois Falls is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and fraud under $5,000.
A 64-year-old from Nipigon is charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
"The success of this investigation speaks to the professionalism, dedication and ingenuity of an investigative team that takes pride in serving the community," OPP Det. Sgt. Chris Peckford said in a statement. "A substantial number of stolen items have been recovered and efforts are being made to return the items to its rightful owners."
Police said the investigation continues.
