Snow squall watch in effect for Wawa - Pukaskwa area

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.

WAWA -- Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch in effect for the Wawa-Pukaskwa area beginning Friday afternoon.

The government weather agency states snow squalls are forecast to develop off of Lake Superior beginning Friday afternoon with rapidly accumulating snow.

Snow will be heavy at times with local snowfall amounts between 15 and 30 centimetres is possible.

The heaviest amounts are expected near the Lake Superior shore.

Significantly reduced visibilities within the strongest squalls can be expected. 

The snow squalls are expected to weaken by midday Saturday.
