SUPERIOR NORTH – Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for parts of the region, with up to 20 centimetres of snow.
The government weather agency said snow is expected to begin Thursday morning through Thursday evening for Wawa – Pukaskwa Park, Marathon – Schreiber and Nipigon – Rossport areas.
Snow will at times be heavy, with total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 centimetres, and strong winds gusts of 50 to 60 kilometers an hour.
Blowing snow is to be expected.
A developing low pressure system will track east across northern Ontario.
Snow is expected to begin Thursday morning and continue into the evening. Southerly flow off Lake Superior may enhance snowfall rates for some areas, leading to locally higher snowfall amounts.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
