Special education support to be available during summer programs

Superior Greenstone District School Board is offering summer programs. To support student success, they informed parents, guardians and caregivers that the board will be providing students with Special Education supports, for those students enrolled in these programs.

TERRACE BAY—Superior Greenstone District School Board, informed parents, guardians and caregivers, that they will be offering Special Education supports during their summer programming lineup.

Families are encouraged to contact their school for more information, or visit their school's Facebook and EDSBY pages for information on summer programming opportunities.

The board listed some of these summer learning opportunities and Special Education supports. They plan on offering various supports to students K-12, with special mental health and special education needs participating in their summer learning program.

Staff will be made available to offer support for students taking the following summer programs:

  • Reach Ahead
  • Alternative education courses
  • Summer Coop
  • Summer Literacy and Numeracy

The board added that support will also be available for, “Students with ASD and their families who will be given access to the Board’s “Positive Behaviour Interventionist” beginning July 6, 2022.

For those students returning to school in September and who may need assistance transitioning back to school, they will be invited to attend school between Aug. 22 and Sept. 2, 2022, to get to know their school and staff.
