TERRACE BAY -- St. Martin Catholic School students enjoyed a day filled with fun activities.
On Dec.2, the Grade 7 and 8 class of St. Martin Catholic School organized the second annual “Holiday Hoopla”.
This was held it in the school’s gymnasium, where it is celebrated annually.
Their “Holiday Hoopla” features an array of fun games and activities, including a craft station, carnival games, a photo booth, a hockey target shoot, a penny auction and a guessing jar.
Another highlight of that day included a student-made, “Dance Dance Revolution” using what the class described an event, “using a Makey-Makey coding system.”
The “Holiday Hoopla” is a fundraiser during which time, all the money raised is donated to North Shore Harvest Cupboard, their local food bank.
The students priced all events from $.50, to $2.00, which enabled the Grade 7 and 8 class to raise a total of $753.00 in cash, as well as 85.5 pounds of food for their local food bank.
In order to follow restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group gave each class invited to participate in this event, an assigned time slot during which they could come down to their gymnasium and participate in each activity.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions did not allow parents to join in the festivities, as they normally would be invited to, in past years.
St. Martin’s Catholic School, Grade 7 and 8 class looks forward to planning this event again next year and making a difference in their community.
