Student enters paper glider plane virtual competition

Creativity, skills and knowledge of the skilled trades drives paper glider competition.

RED ROCK -- St. Hillory Catholic School student enters Skills Ontario paper glider plane competition.

Superior North Catholic District School Board is highlighting the accomplishments of Grade 6 student Rodney Wawia. Rodney entered Skills Ontario paper glider plane virtual competition.

The competition was open to students from Grades 6 and 7 within Ontario and offers a variety of opportunities for students to demonstrate, what is described as, “creativity, skills and knowledge of the skilled trades.”

Students entering this competition are asked to design and build a glider plane made of household items. Their entry included detailed blueprints, photographs, and lists that demonstrated their effective use of materials and safety practices.

The final task was to create a video and to test how long the glider could stay in the air. Rodney did all of this and sent in his entry. Judging is to take place mid-January, 2022.

The entire school community, including the SNCDSB, congratulate Rodney Wawia for his hard work and wish him good luck.
