WAWA — While out on general patrol in the early morning of March 29, officers with the Superior East OPP were alerted by their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) to a licence plate that had been reported stolen, according to OPP Northeast Region.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and confirmed the licence plates did not belong to the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle was also reported stolen, and the driver was driving with a suspended licence.

As a result, a 36 years-of-age from Mississauga was arrested and charged with possession of property over $5,000, possession of property under $5,000, failure to comply with a probation order, two counts of driving while under suspension, and being unaccompanied by qualified driver while being a class G1 licence holder.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on May 6.
