TERRACE BAY — The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is beginning a series of parent involvement committee meetings to gather input on the board's strategic plan.

The first event, known as Feast and Feedback, was held last week and included a virtual option for those who were unable to attend in person.

This meeting included parents, guardians and community partners who were invited by school board to participate, enjoy a casual dinner and share their input and experiences. The evening event hoped to gather information that the Board could use when evaluating their multi-year strategic plan.

Nicole Morden-Cormier, the board's director of education, said the input is valuable.

“We invited all our families, we invited stakeholders. We wanted to talk to families about what are they thinking about education," she said. "What are their hopes and dreams for their children? What are they really thinking about regarding our multi-year strategic plan? To what degree do our families see that we are meeting our goals? What are things that they are concerned about?"

Morden-Cormier said she felt that the meeting was a succes.

The event was the first time that school board officials, parents, guardians, and community stakeholders gathered together in one location at the same time to talk about what Morden-Cormier described as, “key issues such as hopes and dreams for their children.”

“We wanted to make a little bit of a change this year as we have been struggling to expand the number of participants being involved in this committee,” she said.
