Superior-Greenstone District School Board calls for parent involvement

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board wants parents and guardians to make a difference by joining school councils or the parent involvement committee.

TERRACE BAY—In a recent social media notice, Superior-Greenstone District School Board,(SGDSB) encouraged parents and guardians to consider becoming involved in their school community by joining their child’s school council or parent involvement committee.

“When parents and educators work together effectively, children benefit," the board said. "Parents and caregivers are the most important influence throughout a child’s education and parental involvement in learning makes a real difference to children’s achievements.”

School council meetings take place quarterly during the school year. More information about the SGBSB's parent involvement committee is available online. Parents can also learn more about school councils at a provincial website.
