Superior Greenstone District School Board celebrates life of a past board director of education

Superior Greenstone District School Board informed their school community of the passing of their former Director of Education, Mr. David Gordon Tamblyn. In his honour flags will fly at half-mast at all of SGDSB buildings.

TERRACE BAY—Superior Greenstone District School Board was saddened to announce the passing of their former Director of Education, David Gordon Tamblyn, who passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

Tamblyn served as Director of Education with the Board for seven years, having served in this position from 2011 to August 31, 2018. He first joined SGDSB on Sept. 1, 1998 where he served in many capacities, including teacher, principal, and superintendent of education and later as director.

SGDSB shared that Tamblyn, “guided the school board to much success through a commitment to supporting student achievement and well-being. He also represented the district proudly through a changing landscape within public education in Ontario, giving a voice to our small school board at a provincial level. He inspired a generation of young leaders through various school-based initiatives focusing on environmental stewardship.”

In honour of former Director David Gordon Tamblyn, flags at all SGDSB buildings are being flown at half-mast until sunset on the day of his service, April 9, 2022 at 11 a.m., at the Lake Superior High School in Terrace Bay.
