TERRACE BAY—Today is World Water Day and like so many other schools and school boards across the province, Superior Greenstone District School Board is encouraging all of its staff, students, parents and guardians, to celebrate this day.

This year, the United Nations focus is “Groundwater-Making the Invisible Visible. Out of sight, under our feet, groundwater is a hidden treasure that enriches our lives”.

As the United Nations website indicates, “Groundwater is invisible, but its impact is visible everywhere”. Almost all the liquid freshwater in the world is groundwater and as climate change gets worse, they remind all of us around the globe that groundwater will become more and more critical.

The board and the United Nations ask everyone, to work together to, manage this precious resource and keep the importance of groundwater in mind during our daily lives.
