TERRACE BAY—Lakehead University Faculty of Education, Teacher candidates were able to learn alongside Superior Greenstone District School Board teachers during the month of March.
SGDSB acknowledged recently that 11 Teacher Candidates from Lakehead University, were able to visit their classrooms, and during their placements, learn key aspects of teaching. Along with the opportunity to observe and learn the curriculum being taught, they were given the opportunity to teach. Under the guidance of their teacher advisor, the candidates were able to learn about assessment, and classroom management strategies, both at the elementary and secondary levels.
The Board recognized that these teacher candidates shared their “knowledge, experiences and passions” with the students they were able to meet and develop a classroom rapport with.
SGDSB also shared that Teacher Candidates will be joining them in permanent and casual positions after their placement is completed, in the coming weeks, while others will be returning to complete their final year of education.
Believing that “small schools make a difference", the Board expressed their appreciation for the relationship and partnership that they have with Lakehead University.
