MARATHON—Tbaytel is one step closer to their launch of fibre technology service to the Town of Marathon.
According to Tbaytel, the Marathon is “set to become the next Northern Ontario community to have access to Tbaytel’s state-of-the-art fibre technology later this year.”
On Tuesday, April 5, local leaders came together to join members of Tbaytel’s executive management team, at their new Marathon Tbaytel store. This represents a key milestone for both the company and the Town of Marathon, as this fibre technology will enable all residents and businesses, access to what Tbaytel describes as, “complete five-bundle suite of products and services including, mobility, phone, Internet, TV and security-all from a single provider at competitively priced rates.”
The launch also reflects the Ontario government's commitment to providing broadband internet services to all communities in Northern Ontario, specifically, Marathon and Terrace Bay. The government’s commitment was evident in several of their funding announcements to invest millions of dollars to help fund projects such as these.
Tbaytel president and CEO, Dan Topatigh said “Bringing true fibre right to the door of 1,875 new customers throughout Marathon is only possible when strong leadership makes funding a priority and great partnerships, like the one Tbaytel has with the Town of Marathon. Tbaytel would like to thank the province of Ontario for its investment and the people of Northern Ontario for their continued support of Tbaytel.”
Marathon’s Mayor Rick Dumas in the past has, spoken several times about the impact that bringing Tbaytel fibre technology to his community would mean, mentioning benefits such as better connectivity and more employment opportunities. At this storefront launching, Mayor Dumas spoke about how, “I am thrilled that Tbaytel is opening a retail store in Marathon. This will provide our residents and the surrounding communities the opportunity to have access to the most up-to-date equipment and of course services that are provided by Tbaytel,” said Dumas.“This store, along with Tbaytel bringing Fibre to the Town of Marathon is a true testament that Tbaytel sees our community as a true commercial hub of the North Shore.”
Fibre technology means better connectivity options for Marathon homes and businesses, giving businesses, the ability to connect with the global economy, and in turn support further economic growth for the city of Marathon. Bringing fibre technology to the city means multiple benefits for the education, health care and social services sectors of the community.
Tbaytel added that “Pre-sales for Tbaytel Fibre in Marathon begin on April 10 with service availability expected to the majority of residents and businesses by June 1.”
This announcement by Tbaytel on April 5 represented the continued partnership between them and the community of Marathon; as they embark on a truly exciting journey to making fibre technology a reality. The Marathon Tbaytel Store is scheduled to open to the public on April 11, 2022.
