TERRACE BAY — The Tbaytel brand is nothing new to the residents of Terrace Bay serving the community for a number of years with their mobile network.

The Thunder Bay-based utility has now recently announced that it will be expanding its services to include landline phones, Internet, TV and security.

Part of the province’s $4.2 million investment in 2021 for both the towns of Marathon and Terrace Bay, the expansion will benefit many in the community as multiple sectors ranging from education, health care, social services and information technology move toward a digital method of delivering services.

“The opportunities for Terrace Bay now that we have a fibre optic network are almost as limitless as the bandwidth it brings. Whether it’s a young entrepreneur looking to bring their ideas to the world, an existing economic driver looking to expand or new families and businesses moving in, we can now fully participate in the digital economy right here in northwestern Ontario,” said Terrace Bay Mayor Paul Malashewski.

According to Tbaytel President and CEO Dan Topatigh, Terrace Bay is joining other municipalities in the region including Fort Frances, Dryden, and Kenora where the utility has increased their offerings.

“While having virtually unlimited bandwidth straight to their home or business is an incredible service for our customers, we’re tremendously excited to see what’s possible for communities across our serving territory as Tbaytel continues to bring more fibre to more northerners than ever before,” Topatigh said.

Terrace Bay customers can visit tbaytel.net/fibre or stop by Terrace Bay’s brand new Tbaytel authorized dealer — Everything Mobile — at 9 Simcoe Plaza for information.
