Terrace Bay city council lifts water advisory

Township of Terrace Bay continues to investigate why the water advisory had to be put in place.
BWA lifted
Boil water advisory has been lifted in the Township of Terrace Bay.

TERRACE BAY -- On Saturday, Dec. 4, the water advisory imposed on Dec. 2 was lifted.

After speaking with John Hall, Terrace Bay chief administrative officer/clerk, he said that, “We are still investigating as to why this water advisory had to be put into place.”

Hall indicated that the township had experienced a power outage in their water treatment plant on Thursday which resulted in the plant losing pressure in the water distribution system. As a result, a BWA had to be imposed on their township.

Due to the BWA, the municipality indicated that it would carry out required testing of water in consultation with the chief medical officer of Health of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

On Monday, Dec. 6, township residents were informed that the boil advisory is now lifted.

Hall emphasized they are investigating the BWA situation.
