TERRACE BAY—Edna Arthur coordinator at Terrace Bay Superior Center helps to organize a variety of programs to keep the seniors in her community engaged and active. Recently they launched their Coffee Meet and Greet Days, during the Municipality’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
She and other senior volunteers are the driving force behind organizing and helping to maintain activities that provide seniors a variety of options to meet, greet, engage and stay active, mentally, socially and physically.
With approximately 250 members, seniors gathered last Friday, to not only celebrate the community’s 75th anniversary, but to launch their Coffee Meet and Greet Days, with a special guest. The center offers anyone present coffee and sweets, every Monday to Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and noon.
This represents one of the key activities offered to all seniors during the Fall and Winter months. “From Monday to Friday, the club is open for coffee from 10 a.m. until noon. During those times, groups come in to chat and talk about things happening in their community, or the recent hockey or baseball game,” shared Arthur.
The Honourable Patty Hajdu, MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North, dropped by to offer her greetings and share in a cup of coffee with the senior group there that day. Everyone showed their community pride, and big heart as they welcomed Minister Hajdu, sharing conversation and laughter together with her and their families.
The event was open to all ages, community wide, and also featured their mascot, “Alien Brando” and his brother “Dearborn”.
