The death of another district resident is linked to COVID-19

The virus has now been a contributing or underlying cause of 88 deaths.

THUNDER BAY — The COVID-19 virus has led to the death of another resident of the Thunder Bay district.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced the passing of the virus's 88th victim on Friday.

This means COVID-19 was either a contributing or underlying cause of death.

The health unit also reported 133 new COVID-19 cases.

The current active caseload in the district is 256.

According to the health unit, 19 people are in hospital with COVID-19, including four in intensive care.

The district's test positivity rate was 21.8 per cent during the week of Apr. 17 to 23, a drop of four per cent from the previous week.
