THUNDER BAY — Provincial police continue to investigate the theft of large spools of copper wire from a Ministry of Transportation construction site east of Thunder Bay.
The incident was reported on March 21, but OPP only released details on Wednesday afternoon.
The theft happened in Shuniah, where work is proceeding on a new truck inspection site on Highway 11/17.
Police said the thieves broke into a Seacan storage container and removed about 12 spools of wire with an estimated value of $30,000.
The Thunder Bay-based forensic identification services unit was called in to process the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police are appealing to the public for assistance.
