Three youths arrested by OPP

The trio is charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act with threats to cause death or bodily harm

WHITESAND FIRST NATION — Ontario Provincial Police have laid multiple charges against several youths following an incident over the weekend on Whitesand First Nation.

In a news release Wednesday, police said officers were sent Saturday evening to a residence in the community after the Armstrong detachment received a report that threats had been made.

Following an investigation, three youths were arrested and charged as follows:

  • a 14-year-old is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, uttering threats to damage property, and three counts of conspiracy to commit a summary conviction offence
  • a 16-year-old is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and two counts of conspiracy to commit a summary conviction offence
  • a 14-year-old is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and one count of conspiracy to commit a summary conviction offence

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, none of the accused can be named.

They have all been released from custody pending a future court appearance before a judge in Thunder Bay.
