SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch for Fort Hope - Webequie and Geraldton - Manitouwadge - Hornepayne areas.

The government weather agency says conditions are favourable this afternoon into this evening for the development of severe thunderstorms, which may produce tornadoes. Damaging winds up to 110 kilometres an hour and dime to ping pong sized hail are also possible.

Severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop over northern Ontario Tuesday afternoon and persist into the evening hours.

The main threats are damaging wind gusts up to 110 km/h and tornadoes.

  • Nakina - Aroland - Pagwa
