HORNEPAYNE—The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program is making it possible for the Township of Hornepayne to make upgrades to its drinking water distribution system. On April 20, the township made the announcement that it will be receiving 3,666,206,000 to assist with these long-needed upgrades.

This funding by the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program who is providing $1,999,840 and an additional investment of $1,666,366 by the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure, will help cover the costs of replacing the water distribution linear infrastructure for the entire length of Third Avenue.

The upgrades will incorporate several other items, consisting of the:

  • Watermain
  • Fire hydrants
  • Municipal Service Lines
  • Curb stops
  • Valves

Just recently the Township of Hornepayne, and Ontario Clean Water Agency, issued a notice for water distribution repairs on Third Avenue. As a result, Third Avenue between First and Third street, would experience a disruption in water service.

This funding will certainly assist the township in making the needed upgrades to its drinking water distribution system, and hopefully prevent future disruption in water service.

Road resurfacing is included in the project costs, with the main sanitary sewer line also to be replaced at this time. According to the Township's news release,  the work is to take place the summer of 2025.
