Township of Red Rock begin water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades

The Municipality of Red Rock gave formal Notice to their residents that an extensive infrastructure upgrades to take place between May 30, 2022 and October 10. Detailed information that provided specific areas affected and dated was included in this notice.

RED ROCK—The Township of Red Rock is to begin scheduled wastewater infrastructure upgrades at the end of the month..

A Notice to residents was issued by the township on May 2.

The areas affected were listed in the notice and gave detailed information about each area.  Newton Avenue, Frost Street, Stadler Avenue, (from Rouse to Frost), and Brampton Roadd. from Rouse to the cul-de-sac, were the primary areas in the community, that homeowners need to be aware of.

Residents were also told that the dates provided for this construction may change, but that construction will not take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a. m, on Sundays or Statutory Holidays. Homeowners affected were assured that emergency access will be maintained throughout this project.

The Municipality’s notice included several important highlights:

  • Temporary portable water supply would be provided to each residence affected
  • Will be connected to outdoor taps
  • Public works staff will verify with homeowners that outdoor taps are in working order
  • Public Works Staff will be connecting homeowners to ensure curb stops are in working order.
  • May 30 to June 13, 2022, -excavation, cleaning, relining, chlorination, reinstate water main and back fill.

One lane access along Newton, Frost, and Stadler will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

The notice for residents was quite extensive, detailing specific dates and work by date and location. Brompton, water, sewer and storm replacement is taking place between May 30 and Oct. 10, 2022 when specific upgrades and work will be completed by Makkinga Contractors.

Between June 6 and 30 sewer replacement will start at Brompton and Rouse and will be competed section by section. Advanced notice will be provided to homeowners to request reduced usage.

From July 5 to Aug. 4, 2022, a new water main will be installed, and service lines from the home to the property line will be upgraded. Aug. 5 to Sept. 4, 2022 will see a new storm sewer installation and September to Oct. 5, 2022, road excavation, curb replacement, gutters, driveways, and sidewalks will be restored. Paving of roads will follow.

Affected homeowners were told that they will be contacted regarding existing weeping tile and unknown lines connected to the current storm system. As a final step they were told that these lines will be either reconstructed to the property line or terminated.
