NIPIGON — A traffic stop in Nipigon resulted in the seizure of drugs, numerous cell phones, and items consistent with drug trafficking.

Provincial police said officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 11/17 on Monday, resulting in two people from the Greater Toronto Area to face charges.

The stop resulted in officers finding what they described as a large quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and opioids, along with suspected cocaine. Police said drug paraphernalia was also found.

A 45-year-old from Toronto and a 42-year-old from Whitby each face multiple counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, with the second accused also facing an impaired driving charge.

They are scheduled to appear in a Nipigon court in February.
