Ontario Provincial Police on Wednesday announced the charges had been laid relating to the April 2020 overdose.

Two people are facing charges for allegedly trafficking drugs to a 25-year-old who died from a suspected overdose in April.

Provincial police on Wednesday announced charges had been laid against a 30-year-old and a 28-year-old, both from Long Lake 58 First Nation.

Police said emergency services responded to the overdose at a home in Long Lake 58 First Nation on April 30, where the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the death, police and the coroner's office conducted a six-month investigation. Police said while that investigation did not result in any charges specifically related to the overdose death, the two individuals are charged for allegedly trafficking to the victim.

The two are charged with trafficking a schedule I substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. They appeared by video in a Thunder Bay courtroom and remain in custody.
