Two face charges in Marathon

Marathon OPP has arrested and charged two individuals for theft of a vehicle in Marathon.

MARATHON – According to OPP Northwest Region, officers with the Marathon OPP detachment clocked a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Peninsula Road on the morning of April 23.

Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop, the driver allegedly fled.

During the pursuit, officers determined the vehicle was stolen.

A short time later, officers stopped the motor vehicle and placed the driver and passenger under arrest.

As a result, a 50-year-old from Lombardy has been arrested and charged with theft of property over $5,000, fleeing from a police officer, and nine counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the court at a later date.

Additionally, the 50-year-old passenger from Jasper Wolford Township has been arrested and charged with possession of property over $5,000.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court at a later date.
