Two hospitalized after they were hit by a truck

Two people were hospitalized this weekend after getting hit by a truck in Beardmore.

GREENSTONE – OPP Northwest Region has released a statement regarding an incident in Beardmore where Karen Clarke, an elderly woman in a wheelchair, and her friend, Allen Bishop, were struck by a truck on May 31.

Officers with the Greenstone OPP Detachment responded to the incidents and charged a 52-year-old from Beardmore with careless driving causing bodily harm.

The two pedestrians were transported to the hospital by emergency medical services to be treated for minor injuries.

In a Facebook post, Julian Tate, Karen’s son, provided an update on his mother's condition, stating that his mother is okay, but Bishop has a fractured leg.

Tate explained that his mother and her friend were crossing a street behind his grandfather's house when “a truck was blinded by the sun and they were struck.”

“Both of them are okay. My mother's wheelchair took most of the damage. They are both recovering in the hospital. Wish them the best,” said Tate.
