Two Marathon residents are facing charges following an assault

Two Marathon residents are facing numerous charges following an investigation by the OPP.

MANITOUWADGE – An investigation into an assault and theft of a motor vehicle has resulted in charges for two Marathon residents.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were investigating a theft of a motor vehicle and an assault on a Manitouwadge victim.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old of Marathon was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, obstructing a peace officer, two counts of operation while prohibited, assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000 and disguise with intent.

The 33-year-old was held for video bail and later transferred to the Thunder Bay District Jail and is awaiting further bail hearings.

Police also arrested and charged a 45-year-old of Marathon with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000 and disguise with intent.

The 45-year-old was held for video bail and later released on a release order with several conditions as well as to return to court in Thunder Bay by audio or video.
