THUNDER BAY -- Two more COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in the District of Thunder Bay.

On Thursday the Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced the 109th and 110th deaths associated with the virus, along with 258 new confirmed cases in the past seven days.

The health unit since last January has cautioned those numbers are likely vastly under-reporting the true number of cases in the region, as molecular testing is only made available to the most vulnerable.

There are currently 203 known active cases in the community and there have been 14,442 cases since the pandemic began. According to health unit numbers, there are 31 people hospitalized in district hospitals, including two in intensive care units.
