MARATHON — OPP have arrested two individuals on trafficking and firearms charges following an investigation into drug trafficking in the Marathon area.
Members of the local detachment, supported by the OPP emergency response team and tactics and rescue unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on McLeod Drive on May 22.
During the search officers discovered prohibited firearms as well as suspected quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, and psilocybin.
A 40-year-old resident of the community was charged with multiple offences:
- two counts of failure to comply with a release order
- four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- careless storage of a firearm or ammunition
- two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
This individual was held in custody pending a future appearance in court.
A 19-year-old Marathon resident was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and was released from custody pending a court date in July.
