MARATHON, ON — Highway 17 is closed in both directions near Heron Bay Road, just outside of Marathon, following a serious collision early Thursday morning.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon Detachment reports that at approximately 6:15 a.m. on August 21, 2025, a transport truck, an SUV, and a pickup truck were involved in a crash. One man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The collision has prompted full closures of Highway 17 near both Heron Bay Road and Terrace Bay as emergency crews respond and police investigate. Motorists are advised to expect significant delays.
Police ask that anyone travelling nearby avoid the area and exercise caution while emergency crews respond. They are also advised to monitor Ontario 511 for updates.
