Wawa doctor Anjali Oberai recognized as Ontario physician of the year

Wawa physician Dr. Anjali Oberai has been recognized as the Ontario family physician of the year by the Ontario College of Family Physicians.

WAWA – Wawa physician Dr. Anjali Oberai has been named the 2022 Ontario family physician of the year by the Ontario College of Family Physicians.

Oberai has worked in the community since 1998 as a rural generalist, practising full-scope medicine from obstetrics to palliative care.

Rural locums in Alberta, Ontario, and Nunavut helped spark her passion for rural medicine.

Oberai has been actively involved in the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University as an associate professor, and is co-chair of Public Health Ontario’s Antibiotic Stewardship Advisory Committee.

The annual award, given out earlier this month, is one of the highest honours given by the Ontario College of Family Physicians.

The Lady Dunn Health Centre, where Oberai practices as a physician, congratulated her on the award via social media, saying it recognized her years of dedicated, compassionate and caring service.
