WAWA — A 25-year-old faces several charges after fleeing the scene of a two-vehicle crash last week.

Provincial police said officers responded to a collision on Mission Road in Wawa on the afternoon of June 22, but the suspect vehicle fled prior to officers' arrival.

Police said the vehicle was later found near a snowmobile trail off Highway 101.

The investigation led to the determination that the suspect had consumed alcohol, was under a driving prohibition, and had taken the vehicle without consent. Officers also found a firearm and ammunition in the vehicle.

Bryan Shorey faces a total of 21 charges — including impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, flight from a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and several firearms charges.

Shorey remains in custody.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
