WAWA—After working for nine years at the Wawa Public Library, their CEO and head librarian, Colleen Abbott has announced her retirement.

Abbott’s career began more than 40 years ago in Wawa, as a dental assistant for the late Dr. Mark Owen. Following that, she decided to take a receptionist position at the dental office.

In 2013, she decided to make a career change and as a result she began working as an assistant librarian at the Wawa public library. A few years later, the CEO/head librarian position opened and Abbott successfully transitioned into the position.

The impact that she had while in this position was notable. Abbott made some changes to the library, hoping to make it comfortable and welcoming for everyone. After many years in Wawa and a very successful career, The Board and staff of the Wawa public library, congratulate Colleen Abbott on her retirement and send her best wishes.
