Where to be in Superior North this Canada Day

Canada Day celebrations are happening throughout the region!

Dorion: 

There is currently no celebration plans posted for the Town of Dorion, residents are encouraged to attend celebrations in nearby communities. 

Greenstone 

Canada Day celebrations are being hosted in Geraldton starting at 9 a.m. with the French Club Breakfast, and community yard sales, followed by Ecumenical church services at the Ang/Pres Church (527 Main Street) 

The Canada Day Parade will take place from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Main Street followed by an afternoon of fun inflatables and games for kids to enjoy! 

Manitouwadge 

Manitouwadge celebrations are kicking off at 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at Bethany Church. Free pancakes! Everyone is welcome. 

2 Doors Down is sponsoring a bike parade this year! Decorate your bike or scooter for Canada day and meet at the post office at 1 p.m. The parade will go through the downtown core and is free to attend!  

Who will get dunked the fastest? Get your throwing arm ready for the dunk tank at the ball field at 5 p.m. $2 for one ball or $5 for three balls will get you the chance to dunk the fire chief, bylaw officer, principal, an OPP officer, or the deputy treasurer. 

No fireworks? No problem! In lieu of fireworks, Manitouwadge is holding a lawn decoration contest! Decorate your driveway, front door, and windows with flags and lights to celebrate Canada’s birthday! Register your address today by calling (807) 826–3227 the winner will be announced at the ballfield during evening activities. 

Marathon 

Canada Day celebrations will be held at Penn Lake Park starting at 11 a.m. There will be music by Dr. D-Jay, a local vendor market, a car show by Marathon Car Club, a volleyball tournament and many other activities throughout the day. 

Unfortunately, due to the fire restrictions, the fireworks show planned for 8 p.m. has been cancelled but the music will continue! 

Nipigon 

There is currently no celebration plans posted for the Town of Nipigon, residents are encouraged to attend celebrations in nearby communities. 

Red Rock  

Canada Day celebrations begin with brunch at Canada day celebrations begin with brunch Red Rock Legion Hall. Adults - $13, kids (5-12) - $8, and kids (4 & under) - free! 

The Canada Day parade will start at the recreation centre at 12 p.m. and will make its way down to the flagpole at the waterfront where it will be immediately followed by the opening ceremonies at 12:30 p.m. 

The day's events will include a community picnic, a kids watermelon eating contest, outdoor games, music from the Dorion Band and much more!  

Schreiber 

Schreiber’s celebrations begin with a ceremony and blessing hosted by Pays Plat First Nation followed by the grand opening of the splash pad, bingo, and Canada Day cake and a community barbecue. 

There will be music by the Curbside Cruisers and plenty of activities for kids! 

All activities will take place downtown on Winnipeg Street and Scotia Street. 

Terrace Bay 

Terrace Bay’s Canada Day Ceremony will take place at Terrace Bay beach at 4:15 p.m. The Golden Rail will have a variety of food for sale and the Terrace Bay Curling Club will be hosting a Beer Gardens!  Age of Majority required! 

Head out for a fun scavenger hunt starting at 5 p.m. A vehicle is needed to participate, as the list can take you all over town. Cash prizes! 

There will be inflatables for kids from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and free games for families and children at 5;30 p.m followed by a dance party with DJ Dbl D from 4 p.m. until dark! 

Fireworks 

Due to the ongoing fire restrictions, all fireworks displays have been cancelled.
