Wind warning in effect for parts of the region

Strong winds may result in power outages.

SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada has issued a wind warning Wednesday morning.

According to government weather agency, strong winds are expected on Thursday for Wawa-Pukaskwa Park, White River - Dubreuilville, Marathon-Schreiber and Nipigon 

Strong southerly winds with gusts to 90 kilometres an hour are expected to develop Thursday morning. Winds will shift to the west Thursday afternoon, with gusts to 90 kilometres an hour  expected to continue. Winds will ease Thursday night.

This event is due to a low pressure system that is expected to track into the Upper Great Lakes on Thursday.

Strong winds may result in local power outages.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
