Winter weather travel advisory in effect for parts of the North Shore region

Snowfall amounts of up to 15 centimetres possible with reduced visibilities and blowing snow at times.

SUPERIOR NORTH—A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for parts of the North Shore region.

Areas including Wawa, White River, and Pukaskwa could see snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 centimetres, with locally higher snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres possible. Significantly reduced visibilities in heavy snow and local blowing snow at times, through the morning.

A low pressure system is bringing snow to the area Monday morning. Strong southwesterly wind gusts of up to 60 km/h may create conditions with blowing snow, especially along the lakeshore.

The snow will taper off later in the morning.

Environment Canada said motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
