THUNDER BAY — An investigation launched after a YouTube video was posted resulted in three American anglers pleading guilty to violations of Ontario fishing regulations.

Details of the case have just been released by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

At a court hearing in Thunder Bay earlier this year, conservation officers testified that a video posted by one of the accused showed him and the two other members of his party fishing on Lake Nipigon in March 2023.

One of the men was seen catching and keeping a brook trout, under size and out of season.

Another angler was shown catching two brook trout, both under size and out of season.

The third individual could be seen fishing and assisting with the landing and measuring of the fish.

Two residents of Midland, Mich. were fined a total of $3,500, and both were prohibited from fishing in Ontario for one year.

The other person, a resident of Saginaw, Mich., was fined $1,000.
