It is with heavy hearts that the family of Amelia Mascarin (nee Minoletti) announce her peaceful passing at Southbridge Pinewood on Monday May 6, 2024 at the age of 90.

Amelia was born on October 9, 1933, in Falmenta, Italy, to parents Giusseppe Minoletti and Ercolina (nee Grassi).  She was the eldest of 5 children. She emigrated to Fort William, Ontario in 1950 with her family.  She met Aldo while attending school for ESL (English as a second language), in Fort William and they started to build their life together, raising their 6 children and working hard to provide for their family.

Amelia was a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church. She was also a longstanding member of the C.W.L and The Ladies Venete Society.

Family was of upmost importance to Amelia and she poured all of her love into her 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Her grandchildren have many cherished memories of their Nonna, as she spent a lot of quality time with them.

Amelia shared many of her talents with her family which included her outstanding cooking and baking abilities.  She also excelled at sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, pickling and canning the bountiful fruit and vegetables that they grew. Amelia enjoyed sewing intricate clothing and Halloween costumes over the years for her children and especially her grandchildren. The results of all her talents were carried out with attention to detail. Some words to describe Amelia’s character are humble, generous,

hard working, determined, caring, loving and witty.

Amelia is survived by her husband of 70 years, Aldo, children Lydia Mascarin (Jim), Rob (Kerri), Tina (Steve) Lewandowski, Leana (Ron) Wakewich, Sandra Mascarin and Denis (Cathy).  She is also survived by her grandchildren Shannon Mascarin, Mike (Michelle) and Lisa (Jeff) Kril-Mascarin, Alicia (Kyler) and

Andrew Lewandowski, Kim (Pat) and Kyle Wakewich, Vanessa (Ryan) Arabia and Sydney Lopez, Great-grandchildren Hunter and Bella. Also survived by sisters in law Jan Minoletti and Alda Minoletti and many nieces and nephews.

Amelia was predeceased by her parents and brothers Luciano, Attilio, Marino and Peter.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. A. P. Capricci for her many years of excellent care, Dr. David Janhunen for his great care while she resided at Southbridge Pinewood and all the staff who took excellent care of Amelia.

Funeral services will be held on Monday May 13 at 11:00 a.m at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Rest in peace Mom/Nonna, we love you and you will be sorely missed.
