Anne LeBlanc

With heavy hearts, the family of Anne Mary LeBlanc announces her tragic passing on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospice 4-North. Anne battled and endured a brave, courageous fight with cancer.

Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Anne was born on July 10, 1955. Anne was predeceased by her father Alec Szczomak in 1981 and her mother Birdie Szczomak on May 29, 2021.

Anne is survived by her loving husband Rèal LeBlanc; step-daughters Lynette LeBlanc, Laurèal LeBlanc, and Amanda LeBlanc; brother Alexander Szczomak, sister-in-law Gail Szczomak, niece Alexis Szczomak; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and extended family.

Anne was filled with compassion and pursued a registered nursing profession. She had a passion for quality care, and her intellect and integrity supported her throughout her nursing career and personal endeavours.

Anne actively chose to contribute most of her time and skill in recent years caring compassionately for her mother Birdie, who was Anne’s whole heart. She loved life, traveling with her husband Rèal where they enjoyed many years of fun adventures together. Anne will be sincerely missed by everyone whose life was touched by her grace.

A heartfelt and sincere thank you for the professional and compassionate quality care from Dr. Miller, nursing staff, and support staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice Unit 4-North.

Reverend Luigi Filippini will officiate a prayer service at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed via Sargent & Son Facebook page. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the chapel. Anne will be laid to rest in St. Andrew’s Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Anne to the Canadian Cancer Society.
