Ms. Arleen Josy Shingler, age 45 years, affectionately known to everyone as “Josy”, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 5, 2023.
Josy was born on June 20, 1977 in Winnipeg, Manitoba but moved, shortly after, to Thunder Bay, Ontario with her mother Marcia. She was always a friendly, loving and caring girl who especially enjoyed spending time with family during any holidays. As she grew up Marcia showed her how to invite God’s love into her heart, through prayer, a practice she carried with her always.
As Josy grew into her teenage years, she would become an older sister, to Gabriel and Malarie. She would often babysit her younger siblings creating lasting memories with them. Josy would love ordering in food, sharing her taste in music and watching movies with Gabe and Malarie. She had a way of making anything fun and there were always lots of laughs. Josy loved Gabe and Malarie, always protecting them and being there when they needed a big sister. At 17 years old Josy got her first job working at the Robins Donuts on the corner of East Ave. and Dawson Rd. She would often bring home muffins and treats to share with her family. Other jobs she held were at the Safeway on Court St. and Metro on River St. Josy’s caring nature never faded as she grew. She made many friends over the years, always helping, in any way she could.
She will be missed dearly by her mother Marcia Mosher, brother Gabriel Mosher (Lucy), sister Malarie Boyle-Fisher (Dylan), aunts and uncles Arleen & Robert Merrifeld, Karen Collins, Joanne & Mike Moore, Paddy & Heather Boyle, Brenda Cheever (Rick Robertson), Barry & Diana Boyle, Maxine & Robin Bland as well as numerous cousins, second cousins and close friends.
A service will be held in memory of Josy on July 1st at Lakehead Baptist Church, 1314 Oliver Rd. at 1:30 PM. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
