Mr. Banskumar Arjune, age 74, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away after a brief illness on May 22, 2025. Bans was born January 28, 1951 in Port Mourant, Guyana. Bans left Guyana to attend Lakehead University in 1972. He worked construction before embarking on his career at the Regional Cancer Center as a medical physicist. Bans retired after 37 years of service in December 2021.
Bans lived fully and presently, enjoying the finer things in life – good company, simple living, pride in family and home, and embarking on journeys. He enjoyed curling at PACC, travelling, caring for plants, and socializing at his favourite hangouts. Bans created lifelong friends and honorary family wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Baysarowich; Children Jason (Courtney), Jennifer, and Andrea; Grandchildren Alexandra, Ethan, and soon-to-arrive Baby Arjune; Sister Indra, honorary family member Steven, and numerous extended family in Thunder Bay, Toronto, New York, and beyond.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life to follow June 19, 5:00pm at Lot 88. Annual lean-to will be held in his honour.
