Carol May Clausen (Timmins), born April 17, 1948, passed away peacefully in the arms of her children, Laura-Lee and BG, at the TBRHSC on February 7, 2024. For the past two decades, Carol battled numerous health issues, bravely conquering cancer three times. She was the epitome of courage and strength, a true warrior to the very end. Her unrelenting determination will leave a lasting legacy on her family and everyone who knew her.
Carol proudly served her career as a custodian for the Lakehead School Board, with her fondest memories being the times spent at Slate River School. Her values could be seen through her work, as she worked tirelessly to ensure the cleanliness and safety of her schools for the staff and students. She made many lifelong friends along the way, and touched the lives of countless families.
Family meant everything to Carol. Together with her late husband, Glenn, she proudly raised two children, Laura-Lee and BG. Carol was a natural caregiver, who loved to cook and feed people. She wanted to make the world a better place by “making everyone a lunch.”
Carol’s grandchildren were the centre of her universe, and equally, she was theirs. Affectionately known as Gammy, Carol was a constant source of kindness, wisdom, encouragement and love to Ayden, Addison, Nicole, Maya and Chloe. Carol was so proud and supportive of each of them, doing her best to never miss a hockey game, dance recital or special activity. Even if she could only watch online, she never missed the opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren. Maya and Chloe had the honour and privilege to have precious daily time with their Gammy, a gift that will be treasured in their hearts always.
Carol will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter, Laura-Lee Shaw and her children, Ayden and Addison; her son BG (Monica) and their children, Nicole, Maya and Chloe. Carol is also survived by siblings, Betty Cameron (Jerry), Rosemary Dusang (Dudley Moore), Theodore Timmons (Barb), and Robert Timmins. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Glenn, her grandson, Evan Shaw, her father, William Timmins, her mother, Alice (Dumeney), her brothers, William Timmins and Richard Timmins, and brother-in-law, Larry Clausen. Carol also leaves behind her precious dog, Angel, who provided her with comfort and companionship for the last 15 years.
Charitable donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF).
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour the life of Carol Clausen, our beautiful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend, at a future date.
