Ms. Dale Lynne Ward, age 68 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Dale was born on June 13, 1954 in Fort William, one of 11 children born to Wilford Louis and Martha Ward. She worked for the MNR at the Tree Farm in her earlier years, before dedicating her life to taking care of her family and their home.

She loved fishing, camping, bingo, bowling, playing poker, cribbage, and travelling to Alberta every Christmas to play “Granny Clause” as her youngest grandson Kees called her.

Dale will be deeply missed by her partner, Shawn Flint; her daughter Stacey Wanzuk (Martijn); grandchildren Kaila Wanzuk (Steven Teron), Michael Wanzuk, Joshua Wanzuk (Brylei Granger), Breanne Wanzuk (Nick Plante), Jonnie-Lyn White and Kees den Boer (Casey); as well as her great-grandchildren Sadie Othmer and Ryker Plante. She is also survived by her siblings James Sr. (Mary Ellen) Ward, Patricia Charlie, Louise Ward and Colleen Ward-Howson, Godson Robert Bilokryli, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wilford Louis and Martha Ward; siblings Eric “Johnny”, William “Doker”, Beverley “Duzzie”, Richard “Lolly”, Wilfred “Shungy”, and Jamie “Sputnik”.

Funeral Services for Dale will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Deacon Victor Pelletier. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00pm in the Chapel with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00pm.
