Daniel Patrick Kelly BBA, CA, born January 16th, 1953, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday June 24th, 2023.

Dan (Danny) attended St. Stan’s and St. Patrick’s schools, then both University of North Dakota, and University of Minnesota at Duluth, graduating with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. Upon obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation, he began his career working at Clarkson Gordon. After working in both the public and private sectors, Dan being a true entrepreneur built his own accounting firm. He valued all his clients believing that small clients can become big clients. Throughout his career he developed strong, lifelong relationships including those with Carole Brown, Alana, and Brian.

He married Donna Myronuk, the love of his life since age 15,  and together they raised two beautiful children and enjoyed their three grandchildren. Dan's friends Sam & Bonnie,  Bob &Jan and Mike & Derryl shared his love of laughs, loud rock and roll, and always great food and company.  

There are many more lives that he touched, and his life was filled with many loves; car racing, music (anything from Andrea Boccelli to ZZ Top), travel (particularly driving state side) and a passion for learning and education. Dan’s memory will forever live on through his children, as they too share his joys.  

Dan supported his community donating his time and expertise to many local, provincial and national organizations, such as the Director of the Thunder Bay Port Authority, TBRHSCF Board, Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, Knights of Columbus, and President of the Northwestern Ontario Chartered Accountants Association.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Donna, of 46 years, children Michael (Sara) Kelly, and Maeghan (Peter) Tofinetti, grandchildren Sophia and Katie Tofinetti

and Michael Kelly, brother Michael Kelly, sisters Mary-Pat Kelly (Robert Hanneman) and Kathleen Kelly, mother-in-law Katherine Myronuk, sister-in-law Janice (Arthur) Britton, brother-in-law David Myronuk (Carrie Laidler), numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by parents Michael and Mary Kelly, father-in-law Sam Myronuk, brother-in-law Bruce Myronuk, and sister-in-law Wilhelmina (Billie) Kelly.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday July 5th, 2023 at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Dan’s name to the TBRHSC - Neurology department ℅ Health Science Foundation 980 Oliver Road Thunder Bay, ON P7B 6B4 807-345-4673, healthsciencesfoundation.ca.

Thank you to Dr. Hartford, the medical staff on 5 South at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Geriatric Medicine staff at St. Joe’s, Dr. Skunta and the staff on 2 North at Hogarth Riverview Manor for all their care and compassion. A special thank you to his personal physician, Dr. Sara Kelly.
