Mrs. Eileen Hussey, age 85 years, passed peacefully away on December 14, 2021 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by her family. Eileen was born on October 6, 1936 in Hibbs Cove, Port-de-Grave, Newfoundland. She was a school teacher before she married. Once she married, she helped with the family fishing business and was a homemaker. She loved being involved in her local church. Throughout the years she served as Missionette Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, women’s ministry leader and choir member. She also enjoyed writing and directing children’s Christmas programs at the church. In later years she moved with her family to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she graduated the Rhema Bible Training College Correspondence course, reading over 70 books with a magnifying glass. Eileen loved her family, especially grandchildren, great grandchildren and her 5 Husky dogs.

Eileen leaves to mourn her son, Craig (Glenda), Grandsons Stephen (Kendra), Spencer (Jamie) and Sherman (Sydney), Granddaughter Oraya, Great Grandchildren Benjamin, Abigail, Timothy and Aliyah, Brother Vernon Petten (Shirley), Sisters Clarice Petten, Velva Rowsell (Adolph), Beulah Petten (Chesley), Sisters-in-law Carolyn Petten and Rouza Petten and all her fur babies, Sydney, Apollo, Mitsu, Riker, Nikko, Howie, Echo, Pierre, Bear, Moose, Dakota and Kenzie. She also leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends.

She is predecased by her husband Charles, parents Henry and Emmie Petten, infant brother Newman, brothers Lester and Lewis Petten, sister Doreen Petten (Willie) and sister-in-law Wilmot Morgan (Graham).

The family would like to thank all the incredible Doctors and Nurses of the ICU at the TBRHSC who went above and beyond to care for her during her brief stay, the Neebing First Responders and Thunder Bay Paramedics and family and friends for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Eileen’s life will take place on Friday, December 17 at 11 am at Faith City Church, 360 Black Bay Road, Thunder Bay, Ontario. The service will also be livestreamed on Faith City Church’s YouTube channel. Visitation will take place Thursday, December 16 from 7-8:30 pm and Friday, December 17 9:30-10:30 am at Faith City Church.

Eileen will greatly missed but we look forward to the day when we will be together again!
