Evert “Uncle Ev”, was a kind and gentle man who loved making people laugh. He leaves behind his loving wife Lorraine, they were to celebrate their 59th year of marriage on October 10, 2023.

Evert will be dearly missed by his son, Kevin (Louise), Daughter, Cindy (James) Grandchildren, Alissa (Spencer), Jennifer (Julian), Amber (Ryan), Kayla and Great Grandchildren, Sydney, Emily and Lucas.

He was predeceased by his Father, Michael, Mother, Oepkjen, Brothers, Bernard, Don, Sister, Patricia and Daughter, Colleen.

Evert had an exemplary work ethic, he worked at Shaw Bakery for over 35 years. Retirement did not slow him down he would cut lawns for other people during the summer and shovelled snow in the winter. He loved travelling and would often go to Duluth and spent many winters in Florida. He also travelled to Nashville, Arizona, North Carolina and to Holland three times to visit his birth place. Evert loved fishing and was always excited to go to Red Lake to fish with his son and family.

Evert loved animals and on his daily walks he always made sure he had treats for the dogs in the area.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hogarth for their incredible compassion, support and care for him.

A family internment will take place on September 23, 2023 at 10:00am and a Celebration of Life will follow for family and friends from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the Hope Church 1315 Crawford Avenue, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
