Mr. Gerard Roland Joseph (Gerry) Brien, 72 years old of Nipigon, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023 at the Nipigon Hospital, with family by his side after a brief battle with cancer.
Gerry was born on May 25th 1950 to the late Arthur and Estelle Brien in Timmins Ontario. Gerry worked as a Journeyman Carpenter his whole life, working right up until his health forced him to stop. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going for coffee with them and passing on his carpentry knowledge to anyone who needed it.
Gerry is survived by his loving partner of 27 years, Myrna McLeod and her children Bob (Julie) Delaney and Davis, and Angela (late Tim McLean) Colton, Emmett and Sophie. Children - Danny (Trina) Chance, Makayla and Kensington, and Shaun (Joanne) Devon, Mason and Treydon. Siblings - Jack (Linda) Brien, Diane, Kevin (Sally) and Kallie, Kim and Kyle Milani, Lucie (Denis) and Sherry-Ann Desjardins, and Paul (Brenda) Brien.
Funeral services for Gerry Brien will be held on Tuesday April 25th, 2023 at 11:00am at the Church of Annunciation of the BVM in Nipigon. Interment in Cliffside Cemetery, will follow the reception. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Gerry’s memory to the Church of Annunciation roof rebuilding fund.
