Kataryna Kolisnyk

The family of Mrs. Kataryna Kolisnyk wish to announce her passing on January 7, 2022, after a brief illness.

Born on November 20, 1925 in Cetula Poland, Kataryna left her home at age 16 to find work in Austria where she eventually met her husband-to-be, Michael. Her son, Gene was born there and upon immigrating to Canada his brother Theodore in Hemlo, Ontario. For the next 70 years Kataryna resided in the East End of Fort William.

As a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was known as a warm, quiet person with a deep spirituality and a love for her family and home life. She enjoyed all aspects of her natural environment from her garden vegetables and flowers to the birds and wildlife which would visit her home. She was a great cook, a believer in exercise, and a familiar person in the neighbourhood taking walks to the park in her mid 90’s.

Predeceased by her husband in 2008, Kataryna is survived by son Gene (Marsha), grandson Andrew (Annette) of Calgary and great grandchildren Avery and Anderson, granddaughter Kathie Pender (Peter) of Yellowknife and great grandchildren Hayden and Bryson. Also surviving is son Theodore and grandson Adam (Julie) of Kelowna.

The family of Mrs Kataryna Kolisnyk extend a sincere thank you to the physicians, nurses and other health care personnel who provided her with comfort and care over her recent hospitalizations.

A private family service and interment was held on January 13, 2022.
