It is with deep sadness that the family of Marcel Gagnon Jr., age 53 years, announces his passing at Toronto General Hospital on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Marcel was born in Geraldton, Ontario on June 11, 1972 to Clara (nee Rae) and Marcel Gagnon Sr. and was a proud member of Aroland First Nation. He worked for many years in the Forestry Industry, at Nakina Lumber Inc. He was a dedicated and hard worker, and was someone who truly loved his job and working with the people that became true friends. Marcel was a big sports lover, especially football and hockey, cheering on his Chicago Blackhawks and San Francisco 49ers. In his younger years, he was very athletic and enjoyed baseball. Marcel loved being outdoors and hunting, but above all else, family was his greatest passion. Time spent with his children brought him the greatest joy. His big heart and personality will be deeply missed by all, but the memories we shared will stay close to us forever.

Marcel is survived by loving children Sheridan Gagnon, Carson Gagnon, Marcus Gagnon, Harrison Gagnon, Madison Gagnon and twins Harmony and Cassidy Gagnon, all of Aroland; mother Clara Gagnon of Aroland; siblings Candace Gagnon (Dominic Kashkish) of Aroland, Dwayne Gagnon of Aroland, Darcy (Bobbi-Lee) Gagnon of Aroland, Morgan (John Atlookan Jr.) Gagnon of Aroland and Ezra Turtle of Aroland. He is survived by his aunts and uncles: Linda (Henry) Kashkesh of Aroland, John (Carol) Gagnon of Thunder Bay, Hilda (Larry Baxter) Gagnon of Aroland, Jeffrey (Stella Bouchard) Gagnon of Aroland, Jackie (Noel White) Gagnon of Thunder Bay, Lindsey (Terry-Lynn) Gagnon of Aroland, Bernard (Myrna) Gagnon of Aroland. He will also be missed by his beloved weiner dogs, Twilight, Gino, Nuggie and Binoo as well as nieces Tina Rae, Denise Stony and Suzie Ang; nephews Bryan Rae, Frankie Ang, Donnie Meekis and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by his father, Marcel Gagnon Sr.; grandparents, Walter and Mary Gagnon and Kanina and Donald Rae; as well as many aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Funeral Services for Marcel Gagnon Jr. Will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 1:00pm in Aroland at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, officiated by Father Hugo Tremblay. Interment will follow in Aroland Cemetery. A Traditional Wake will be held at 36 Poplar Street, Aroland, where friends will be received on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 3pm and continuing until Noon on Thursday.

Should friends so desire, memorial donations made in memory of Marcel to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Everest - Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street, Thunder Bay.
